Repeat!

I recall learning calisthenics when I was younger. Every time I heard the song for the first time, I was ecstatic. Although I wasn't yet familiar with the routine, the upbeat, new music uplifted me because it was so groovy.

It lost its appeal as practice went on, and after being repeated the same way roughly five times in one day, the rehearsals grew boring and drowsy. Especially with the teacher yelling répété! Several times, I came dangerously close to shrieking "tais tois!" (shut up in French).

Well, I stuck around for practice, and despite not being chosen to lead the troupe, I picked up the moves and could still remember them years after we had performed the routine.

I still get inspired by past experiences like this one, and I am reminded of the value of routine when I am faced with learning situations that call for repetition.

For individuals who detest routines but must follow them to achieve a goal, keep in mind that learning or change is not always enjoyable, but maintaining a habit, while initially challenging, will ultimately be beneficial.

Repeat!
